Andrew Skinner
Andrew Skinner is a sole practitioner solicitor practising international trade law, including export controls, sanctions, and embargoes.
Prior to forming AM Skinner Solicitors in July 2019, Andrew worked as an in-house lawyer and Head of Global Trade Compliance for a large U.S. technology company. Andrew now helps companies manage both contentious and non-contentious compliance issues resulting from cross-border trade, as well as offering strategic advice and training when designing, implementing, or enhancing end-to-end trade compliance programmes. Andrew provides advice across a wide range of business sectors, including electronics, defence, scientific equipment, metals and civil nuclear.
Andrew is also a professionally qualified engineer (Chartered Engineer), and has engineering experience in both aerospace and defence sectors, having initially served a four-year mechanical engineering apprenticeship with the UK Ministry of Defence (Royal Ordnance Factory).
Andrew gained a Bachelor of Engineering honours degree from Leeds Metropolitan University (now Leeds Beckett University) in 1998, and a Graduate Diploma in Law in 2005. He was called to the Bar of England & Wales in 2007 (Inner Temple) and is an unregistered barrister.
Andrew became a solicitor in 2012, and provides legal services as a solicitor.
