The UK Bribery Act 2010 makes it illegal to offer, promise, request, agree, accept or give bribes. Failure to comply with the Act carries a maximum sentence of 10 years imprisonment, with an unlimited fine.

An anti-bribery policy can help protect a business where someone working for, or acting on behalf of that business (wherever located) may be at risk of being exposed to bribery.

Business should consider its bribery exposure risk and include policy rules as to the acceptance of gifts, donations and hospitality, as well as providing guidance on business conduct and on the prevention of conflicts of interest.

I advise clients on all aspects of Anti-Bribery & Corruption law, including strategic legal advice, training and the drafting of policies and procedures.
